Hey friends! I’m back to bring you more undead goodness. In the first roundup I explain the motivation for this and have more to share! Some are oldies but goodies and and some I discovered for this segment. Come this way and let’s talk zombies.
First up we have Shaun of the Dead. I cannot tell you how much I love this movie. It’s a perfect balance of silly and scary. I rewatched this again and found myself catching things I’d missed in the 87 previous viewings. I love when a movie can still surprise you. So I’d recommend rewatching it if it’s been a while and if it’s new to you, you’re in for a treat!!
Now we can’t talk about funny zombies without talking about the return of the amazing iZombie. There are a few reasons I want people to watch this show: 1) I want a season 4. Call me selfish. I don’t care. 2) It’s fantastic. 3) I need another person to gush to about Ravi. This is one of the few shows I can watch with my Hubs bc he doesn’t do the gore.
If you want a game you can play with small humans or friends who aren’t into the zombies, this is a fun one. It’s simple enough that my 7 year old can play while still a good time for the adults. For a breakdown of the rules and to see it in action watch this episode of Tabletop.
And lastly we have this book. Night of the Living Trekkies combine my love of trek and zombies to birth a flesh eating space baby. You don’t have to be a Trek fan to read and find it enjoyable. They did a great job of balancing the humor with the horror while throwing in a little romance. I laughed out loud a couple of times while reading this. You can watch the book trailer here to get an idea of what to expect. It’s not as campy and the trailer makes it seem. The science behind the outbreak is kind of interesting and well as the story itself. The plot is well paced and for the most part easy to follow. Most importantly the characters didn’t suffer from making terrible stupid decisions at every turn. So hurray!
And I think that wraps things up for now. What zombie things have you been into? Zombies not your thing, share the genre you can’t say no to!
