Review: Mary and the Witch’s Flower

Hey all! Long time no talk! lol Well I’m here today to give a quick review of a delightful film. It’s the first From Studio Ponoc. This studio may have names Studio Ghibli fans may recognize. (The Director Yoshiaki Nishimura was the director from Howl’s Moving Castle.) Enough with the production details. Let me tell you why you should watch it.

The story itself is kinda Harry Potter meets Spirited away. We start with an adorable yet bored young girl, Mary, who can’t seem to catch a break. During a jaunt into the woods she discovers a mysterious flower that comes with a whole lot of trouble. One small fib told to get back at a local boy causes a whole other set of issues. It was a thrilling ride watching her grow and learn to look past herself while she raced to save her new friend.

If you’re a fan of Studio Ghibli’s story telling and animation style, you’ll love this. Oh did I mention there’s the cutest black cat ever? Well there is and I love him. I can’t wait own this and watch it time and time again. Check out the trailer and tell me it doesn’t make you want to see it just a little.

Who’s ready to cosplay this with me?
