If you’ll recall, I’m that person who can fit in front of the TV for hours on end and watch the same show without noticing the time passing me by. If I do not have HGTV or Food Network on in my house, something is wrong or I’m not well – whichever it is, send help immediately. With that said, last time I posted about Property Brothers, but this time, the honor goes to Love It Or List It & Love It Or List It, Too. Not a weekend goes by where I don’t hear the hosts voices and the homeowners complaints filling my home.
If you are not familiar with the show(s), the premise of them is simple; one half wants to sell the house, the other one wants to renovate it and love it. The hosts exchange snarky commentary when they tour the house and think of all the grandiose things they can do it and act appalled when they hear the homeowners renovation budget. Then drama ensues when *GASP* the homeowner’s budget is not nearly big enough for the renovations but they are also wanting way too much in a new house or the biggest issue I see: location, location, location.
Oh, the original two. Sometimes these two make me cringe so badly, but I can’t ever stop watching. For a short time, I thought these two were married and used the show as a way to keep the romance alive. What? Watch those two bickering a little and you’ll see what I mean. But, in case you’re wondering, that is not the case. Hilary takes crap from nobody and believe me, some of the homeowners go at her hard, even her contractor does at times. As for David, bless his little heart. Sometimes he tries so hard and gets it right, IMO, but he is almost set up to fail in some ways because usually the person who wants to stay can dig their heels in.
Personally, I almost always want them to love it because it’s their home and they made memories there. Every once in awhile, you know the best thing for a couple is just leaving the house and buying the better one. It’s rare, but it does happen.
If the woman host looks familiar, you aren’t alone. It took me a few episodes and one Google search, but I figured it out. She is originally from the reality show The Bachelor and later went on to be The Bachelorette. Are you having an AHA! moment? Because I did too. If you don’t recognize Todd, don’t worry, he hasn’t been on any other reality show.
This show is much of the same, the hosts walk through the house and trade snippy little comments with each other but then end up designing and finding some absolutely gorgeous houses. There is something I love about these two even though some people just think it’s a cheap knockoff of the original, but give me a break, I love them. Not to mention HGTV gives in constantly by running long marathons every weekend and on some week nights!
So, tell me – do you marathon these shows as well? What do you think of them? Do you ever want to grab the homeowners and shake them? Sometimes I really, really want to grab the hosts as well BECAUSE YOU AREN’T LISTENING TO THE HOMEOWNERS. Ahem, sorry. If you don’t care for these shows, what other ones do you like? I personally love Flip Or Flip and Rehab Addict as well!
