Welcome to the Breaker (Exile, Volume 1) Blog Tour and Giveaway! We’re both super excited about this new release and thrilled to be able to share it with you. Throughout this tour, we’re going to be introducing many of the characters within, and associated with, Exile’s bizarre shores, as well as introducing Exile itself. Then we’re going to top that off with a quick little teaser.
However, before we get into any of that we wanted to remind you that we’ve got a couple of awesome giveaways going along with the tour so be sure to read through to the end to find out how you could win either a Silver-plated Starfish Anklet (just by leaving a single comment!), or the grand prize of a signed, print copy of Breaker, a coordinates bracelet with the Believe. Seek. Prove. reminder so you can always find your way back to the island of Exile, and a $20 gift certificate to the Less Than Three Press book market.

The Character Discussion
KW: Let’s talk about one of my favorite dudes ever.
AFH: Colby Keller?
KW: *gives Henley the stank eye* ANYway… EDDIE FLORENCE. PLEASE STAND UP—
AFH: And face the front. *slaps thighs* I’ll get the blindfolds.
KW: NO FIRING SQUADS. Jesus wept. Seriously, guys, we’re more or less sober at the moment. Not that you could tell. But all Eminem references aside, Eddie Florence… Why don’t you tell us how you came up with that name? Since, you know, the other characters are, like, Kaeva. Lundrell. Oberon. Spring. And then… Eddie. Good old Ed. A throwback in a world of fantasy names.
AFH: You know what Eddie would say here? That he would have you know he was named after kings. But in all truth, he was named in a kind of… shout out (?) to two of my favourite characters from another author’s work. It’s not the same, but it’s as close as “shit is to swearing” to quote my mom. ‘Tis is a secret as to who they are, though. But if you want to know another secret, I wasn’t really fond of Eddie when I first started writing him.
KW: I know. I remember. I was there. Telling you to KEEP WRITING HIM ANYWAY. Out of love, of course. Pure love. <3
“You must be the new guy.” The man smiled.
“Yeah,” Eddie agreed. “Yeah, I guess I am.”
“Cool.” Blue came around the counter. He wore plain clothes and heavy, textured black gloves up to his elbows. “I’m Frost.” He offered his hand.
Eddie took it. “Eddie Florence.”
“Oh wow. Throwback name.” Frost grinned.
“Yeah. It was almost Terrance, but my father said no son of his would be Terrance Florence.”
Frost glanced at Keava. “Heard you were on intake duty. If I wasn’t staring at you in the flesh, I wouldn’t believe it.”
“Oh, you mean Chief Thundercloud, here, isn’t usually on the welcome bandwagon?” Eddie asked innocently.
Frost didn’t miss a beat. “You know, he’s not?”
“Huh. Who’da thunk?”
“Frost?” A woman rounded the corner near the rear of the building, where there were two offices for the medical supervisors and the entrance into the intensive care ward. She was tall with ash blonde hair, wide-set blue eyes, and a thin mouth which rarely had reason to smile. “Ah, hello,” Zunella Bearn said to Eddie before turning her gaze on Kaeva. “I see you’re both here in one piece. Been a while, Mr. Downs.”
“Yeah,” Kaeva agreed. Zunella had been the medical attendant who’d watched over Kaeva while he decided if he wanted to live or die after arriving at Exile. It’d only taken a day for him to recover from the swim and the journey. It’d taken longer for him to find a reason to get out of bed. The medical staff had waited patiently for his decision. They weren’t opposed at all to assisted suicide. For some, it was the best option. In the end, though, Kaeva had opted to go build a home instead of take the needle. He’d never looked back.
“You knew I was…” Eddie cleared his throat. “I guess you knew I was coming because of the radio, right?”
Zunella leveled a cool gaze on Eddie. “What’s your name?”
“Very well, Mr. Florence. I’m Zunella, the chief medical examiner.” She looked him up and down. “Let’s get you some fresh, dry clothes, shall we? Frost?”
“On it.” Frost trotted to a free-standing closet and retrieved a bundle of prepackaged clothes in dark blue and white. He tossed it to Eddie. “You can change in there.” He pointed to a doorway. “Towels are in there, too, and a toothbrush.”
“Thanks,” Eddie said quietly, and after a furtive glance at Kaeva, Eddie vanished behind the door.

In the wake of several near-cataclysmic events, humanity created the Cure, a DNA-altering antidote to death by disease and old age. But all cures come with side effects: a small percentage of the population develops a wide range of powers, some of which are lethal to others, and some which are lethal to the wielder.
These people are called the Estranged, hunted and shunned, safe only on the Island of Exile. It is here that Kaeva and Eddie meet—and where they set a prophecy in motion, quite possibly sealing their own demise, and even the end of Exile.
Genre: Gay, Urban Fantasy
Notes: contains some explicit content and includes thoughts and discussions of past and potential suicide

Henley was born with a full-blown passion for run-on sentences, a zealous indulgence in all words descriptive, and the endearing tendency to overuse punctuation. Since the early years Henley has been an enthusiastic writer, from the first few I-love-my-dog stories to the current leap into erotica. A self-professed Google genius, Henley lives for the hours spent digging through the Internet for ‘research purposes’ which, more often than not, lead seven thousand miles away from first intentions but bring Henley to new discoveries and ideas that, once seeded, tend to flourish. Henley has been proudly publishing with Less Than Three Press since 2012.
